Terms of Use

1. Use of the App

ThatWasMyDay is a personal reflection and journaling companion powered by AI. You may use the App for personal, non-commercial purposes. You must be at least 13 years old to use the App.

2. Account & Authentication

The App uses anonymous authentication. No email, name, or Apple ID is required to create an account. Your identity is tied to a randomly generated device UUID stored securely in your iOS Keychain. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your device.

3. API Keys & Costs

• ThatWasMyDay requires you to provide your own Anthropic API key to use AI features. The app does not charge any subscription fees.
• You are responsible for your own Anthropic account, API key, and any associated usage costs. Anthropic bills you directly.
• Your API key is encrypted at rest using per-user AES-256-GCM encryption and is only used to make AI requests on your behalf.
• You can update or remove your API key at any time from Settings within the app.
• We are not responsible for charges incurred on your Anthropic account through use of the app.

4. User Content

You retain ownership of all content you create within the App, including reflection messages, voice recordings, and any other personal data. By using the App, you grant us a limited license to process your content solely for the purpose of providing the App's features (AI responses, insights, pattern recognition).

You are responsible for the content you create. Do not use the App to store or transmit illegal, harmful, or abusive content.

5. AI-Generated Content

The App uses artificial intelligence to generate responses, insights, and summaries. AI-generated content is provided for informational and reflective purposes only. It is not a substitute for professional medical, psychological, legal, or financial advice.

6. Privacy

Your privacy is important to us. Please review our Privacy Policy for details on how we collect, use, and protect your data.

7. Intellectual Property

The App, its design, code, and branding are owned by us and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or reverse-engineer any part of the App.

8. Disclaimers

The App is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that AI-generated content will be accurate. Use of the App is at your own risk.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the App.

10. Termination

You may stop using the App at any time by deleting your account (Settings > Delete Account) and uninstalling the App. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access to the App for violations of these Terms.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the effective date at the top. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
